“Being an artist means risking being perceived as cringe to practice the human urge to express artistically. People who cringe easily are miserable, no soul, just TikTok fyp brained waiting for taste makers on the internet to spoon feed them any essence of creativity. So scared to step out of the box. Those kinds of people can never truly know what it feels like to be free lol. As an artist you are a risk taker”
chiico
song i’m obsessed with: original sin
Original Sin is Track 5 from Chiico’s 2025 mixtape, Ghetto Superstar, produced by my good friend Syrosis. I first heard the song last year while sitting in my hotel room in North Carolina. If I remember correctly, it was the night the project dropped. From the moment it came on, I was instantly captivated. There was something incredibly fresh, organic, and exciting about it. It felt like a theme song. So bold, immersive, and memorable. To me, it captures an energy that’s been missing from much of today’s R&B.
why should you listen to chiico?
Chiico is an artist worth listening to because there’s something deeply comforting about his overall vibe and sound. His music feels like the aftermath of a long night out. Coming home from a big party, crashing at a friend’s place, and laughing about how crazy the night was. There’s an effortless coolness in the way his artistry comes together, and that feeling is present across any song or project of his. It’s not driven by fame or clout. It feels rooted in genuine fun, authenticity, and experience. Coming across artists like Chiico is truly inspiring.
